Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Mohammed Jagne's offensive brilliance paces Broncos to impressive 2-0 victory over Rockland

The Broncos' men's soccer team recorded its first victory of the 2018 campaign on Thursday afternoon, winning its home-opener by defeating the Hawks of SUNY Rockland by a score of 2-0 at Ohio Field. Bronx is now 1-2 on the season, while SUNY Rockland is still searching for its first triumph of the season at 0-2.

Bronx, despite being outshot by the Hawks 20-14 on the day, seemed to be a step ahead of SUNY Rockland through the entirety of the afternoon. The Broncos struck early when Mohammed Jagne netted an unassisted goal just 90 seconds into the match. The CUNYAC Preseason Player of the Year struck again right before halftime, burying a kick from just above the box to catapult the Broncos to a 2-0 edge.

SUNY Rockland had its opportunities, earning 12 corner kick opportunities on the afternoon, but the Bronx defense held the Hawks in check, and netminder James Amoafo Kumi did the rest, stopping five shots to earn the shutout.

The Broncos will now enjoy four days off before returning to action on Tuesday, as the team will head to New Rochelle, NY to take on Monroe College (Bronx). Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 4:00pm.
