The Broncos' women's volleyball team returned home last night to battle the Senators of SUNY Ulster, but Bronx fell in straight sets, losing 26-28, 22-25, and 21-25 at the Alumni Gymnasium. With the defeat, the Broncos dipped to 1-3 on the 2018 campaign.
Despite the loss for Bronx, standout
Angelica Aquino paced the Broncos, tallying match-highs in kills with 15, digs with 18, and service aces with five. She hit .244 for the match, and did a phenomenal job of keeping Bronx within striking distance in every set. In addition, sophomore
Sthefany Jimenez added nine kills and 15 digs, and setter
Heder Rodriguez recorded a match-high 29 digs.
In the victory for SUNY Ulster, Meaghan Hardeman recorded a team-high 11 kills to go along with nine digs. Kassie Miller tallied seven kills and added five digs, and Victoria Somer and Krysta Shaffer tallied 14 and 12 digs, respectively. Setter Brooke Salazar contributed a team-high 28 assists.
Bronx will return to action tomorrow evening, as the Broncos will travel to Bayside, NY to battle CUNYAC-foe Queensborough. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 7:00pm.
