Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Broncos suffer one-goal defeat to CUNYAC foe BMCC in rain-soaked conference contest

The Broncos' men's soccer team suffered a tough loss on a rainy Monday afternoon, falling to the Panthers of the Borough of Manhattan Community College by a score of 2-1 in a CUNYAC match at Pier 40. With the loss, Bronx dipped to 0-2 on the year (0-1 in conference competition). The Panthers improved to a mark of 2-1 on the season, and stayed unblemished in CUNYAC action (2-0).

BMCC got on the board first when Daouda Coulibaly netted a goal just six minutes into the match. Adrian Santos picked up an assist on the play, and the Panthers held an early 1-0 edge. The Broncos caught a break 11 minutes later when the Broncos would tie the game due to a Panther miscue. After 17 minutes of action, the game was tied at one apiece.

Coulibaly would score the game-winning goal for BMCC, striking again 33 minutes into the contest - and it was Santos once again supplying the pass on the goal. The Panthers led 2-1 at that stage of the match - and would not relinquish that slim margin over the final 57 minutes of play.

The Panthers out-shot Bronx 9-2 for the match, while also earning seven corner kick opportunities compared to three for the Broncos. BMCC netminder Bryan Toledo only had to make one save to earn the victory in goal, while his counterpart, Bronx' James Amoafo Kumi, stopped four shots and allowed just two goals in taking the loss.

Bronx will return to action on Thursday afternoon, as the Broncos will host the Hawks of SUNY Rockland at Ohio Field. Start-time is scheduled for 4:00pm
