Box Score

The Broncos returned to action on Tuesday, defeating the Panthers of the Borough of Manhattan Community College by a score of 16-10 in a wild contest that took place at Ohio Field. With the victory, Bronx improved to a mark of 17-11 – and 8-1 in CUNYAC competition. On the flip side, the Panthers dipped to 4-20 overall, and 2-7 in conference play.

In addition to the Bronx' win yesterday, Queensborough defeated Kingsborough by a score of 7-2, meaning the Broncos and Tigers are now officially penciled in for Monday's CUNYAC title game at MCU Park. The only thing left to be determined as it pertains to that game are the seeds. If the Broncos win one of their final three games, or Queensborough drops one of its final three, then Bronx would officially clinch the No. 1 seed.

In what was a wild game, the Panthers scored two runs in each of the first two innings to grab a 4-0 advantage, but the Broncos' 10-run bottom of the second inning put them ahead for good. Bronx would add another five runs in the bottom of the third to catapult to a score of 15-4 after three complete, and would eventually go on to win the slugfest by a score of 16-10.

Aaron Bonilla Suarez turned in a rare uneven start for the Broncos, as he tossed five innings, allowing eight runs (four earned) on six hits while walking two batters and striking out four. Despite that, he will still pick up his conference-leading eighth victory of the season. Alexander Pimentel only lasted one-third of a frame, allowing two earned runs on three hits while striking out a batter. Ariel Irving Lora was fantastic in finishing this game for the Broncos, as he recorded three and two-thirds innings, allowing no runs and just one hit while walking three and striking out nine.

Lora – in addition to his brilliance on the mount – would also record a homerun, draw a walk, score two runs, and drive home three. Justin Nunez singled three times, walked, scored two runs, and picked up two RBI, and Emmanuel Frias walked three times, dented home plate twice, and drove home two. Carlos Rivera Ayala also turned in a quality game at the dish, as he doubled, walked, score a pair of runs, and picked up three RBI.

Bronx will return to action on Friday, as the Broncos will play another single CUNYAC game against the Panthers of the Borough of Manhattan Community College. It will be the final game of the season at Ohio Field for the Broncos. Start-time is scheduled for 3:30pm.
