The Bronx Community College baseball team collected three more victories on Saturday – turning back Kingsborough Community College by scores of 9-6, 17-1, and 8-7 at Ohio Field. With the wins, the Broncos are now 13-6 overall (7-1 CUNYAC) on the 2018 season, and have won nine consecutive contests.

Back on Friday, the Broncos and the Wave had their game halted, so yesterday – prior to the teams' originally scheduled doubleheader – the clubs had to finish that game. Bronx would win that contest, defeating Kingsborough by a score of 9-6. The offensive star of the game for the Broncos in that victory was
Carlos Rivera Ayala, as he recorded three singles and drove in six runs.  Jeffrey Almanzar – as he reached base three times, homering and drawing two walks while scoring four times and driving in a run.

Kevin Gerson recorded the win on the mound for Bronx, as he tossed five innings and allowed four runs (all earned) while scattering six hits, walking three batters, and striking out four.

In the first game of yesterday's originally-scheduled doubleheader, the Broncos cruised to an easy 16-run, five-inning win. Bronx trailed 1-0 heading into the bottom of the second inning, but a 12-run bottom of the frame blew the game wide open. The Broncos recorded 11 hits and drew 10 walks in the victory, with
Derek Galvez (double, single) and Steven Santana (two singles) recording two hits apiece. Santana also added three RBI, and four Bronx players – including Almanzar, Justin Nunez, Emmanuel Frias, and Galvez – all drove home two runs apiece.

Earning the victory on the mound for the Broncos was
Aaron Bonilla Suarez.  Bonilla Suarez – who has established himself as the clear ace of the staff – tossed a complete game (five innings), allowing just one unearned run and only one hit while walking three and striking out one.

Game 2 of yesterday's originally scheduled doubleheader was a back-and-forth affair. The Wave – just as they did in the previous game – scored a run in the top of the first inning. Bronx would answer in the bottom half, though, denting home plate five times to catapult ahead by a score of 5-1. After neither team would score in the second frame, Kingsborough broke through for six runs in the top of the third to grab a 7-5 edge.

The Wave held that aforementioned 7-5 advantage until the bottom of the fifth when Bronx would push across two runs to tie the game at seven apiece. The Broncos would later win the game in walkoff fashion, notching a run in the bottom of the seventh to claim their ninth consecutive win.

Frias reached base four times in the Broncos' thrilling win, singling three times and drawing a walk. He also scored a run and drove in three. Nunez doubled, singled, scored two runs and reached via a free pass, and Rivera Ayala,
Kevin Almonte, and Santana all recorded two singles apiece.

Alexander Pimentel started for the Broncos, but he struggled, tossing two and two-thirds innings and allowing six runs (all earned) on five hits while walking two and striking out three. The Bronx' bullpen was stellar, though, combining for four and one-thirds innings pitched and allowing just one run. Nunez hurled two and one-third of relief and opened some eyes by striking out six Kingsborough batters, and Bonilla Suarez – who hurled a complete game in the Broncos' previous game – picked up the win in Game 2 as well, needing to face just one batter (and record just one out) to do so.

Bronx Community College will look to win its tenth straight game on Sunday afternoon, as the team will take to the road to battle Nassau Community College. Start-time for the contest is scheduled for 12:00pm.
