Aissata Kante and Asia Nelson record double-doubles in Broncos' 60-41 loss to Queensborough

The Broncos' women's basketball team suffered a loss on Thursday evening, falling to CUNYAC foe Queensborough by a score of 60-41 at the Alumni Gym. With the loss, Bronx dipped to 2-7 on the 2018-2019 campaign, and 1-3 in conference play. The Tigers improved to a mark of 6-5 on the year, including 3-1 in conference play.

Despite the loss for Bronx, Asia Nelson once again recorded a double-double, tonight finishing with a game-high 17 points while tying for the game-high in rebounds with 19. She also swatted a pair of shots, as well. Aissata Kante put forth her best effort of the 2018-2019 season, as she pulled down 19 rebounds while snatching 11 rebounds. Kayla Martinez added eight points, four boards, and three assists.

Pacing Queensborough was Angelique Yarborough, as she was masterful for the Tigers, recording a triple-double with 15 points, 16 rebounds, and a game-high 11 assists. She also swatted a game-high four shots, as well. Giselle Diaz added 11 points and three caroms, and Leeze Theodore and Georgia Alexiou netted 10 points apiece.

The Tigers shot 36.1 percent from the floor (26-72) compared to 21.3 percent for the Broncos (16-75). Bronx dominated on the glass, out-rebounding Queensborough by a margin of 64-45. The Tigers held advantages in the assist category, recording 19 to the Broncos' seven. Queensborough also won the turnover battle, committing just seven mistakes while forcing 20 Bronx errors.

The Broncos' season will resume after the new year, as Bronx will return to action on January 3, 2019, taking to the road to battle Queensborough in a rematch from tonight's contest. Start-time for the contest in Queens, NY is scheduled for 5:30pm.
