Complete team effort paces men's basketball team to 95-78 blowout victory over Kingsborough in CUNYAC opener

The Broncos' men's basketball team picked up a victory last night at the Alumni Gymnasium, defeating CUNYAC foe Kingsborough by a score of 95-78. With the win, Bronx is now 1-1 on the 2018-2019 campaign (1-0 in conference competition), while the Wave dipped to 0-4 on the season (0-2 CUNYAC competition).

Newcomer Tilquan Rucker was sensational for the Broncos, as his versatile effort saw him drop 32 points on 14-of-25 shooting to go along with seven steals, four assists, and four rebounds. The 5'8 standout also converted on all three of his attempts at the charity stripe.

In addition to Rucker's stellar effort, Malk Hamilton contributed 15 points while grabbing seven rebounds and tallying four steals, and Elijah Lopez added 14 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Veteran Hector Montano Valenzuela posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds while also collecting four steals and blocking a pair of shots.

The Broncos connected on just a shade under 45 percent of their field goal attempts, nailing 39 of their 88 shots on the evening (44.3 percent). Bronx also recorded 21 steals as a team.

Bronx will now have four days off before returning to action on Tuesday, as the Broncos will take to the road to battle Hostos Community College in another CUNYAC contest. Start-time for that game is scheduled for 8:00pm.
