Siara Torres records 26 points in Broncos' 83-58 defeat to Springfield Tech Community College on Saturday

The Broncos' women's basketball team lost its second consecutive game on Saturday afternoon, dropping an 83-58 decision to Rams of Springfield Tech Community College. With the loss, Bronx slipped to a mark of 1-3 on the 2018-2019 season.

Despite the loss for Bronx, veteran guard Siara Torres was exceptional, as she knocked down five three-point baskets on her way to finishing her afternoon with a game-high 26 points. She also contributed three rebounds and a pair of steals. Nia Simmons added 13 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Kayla Martinez contributed 10 points and five caroms, and Asia Nelson snatched a game-high 11 boards.

In the victory for the Rams, Springfield Tech was paced by Jamiller Tassi, as she put forth literally a perfect day, knocking down all eight of her attempt from beyond-the-arc to account for a team-high 24 points. She also added five assists, five rebounds, three blocks, and two steals. Leaha Evans contributed 21 points, three assists, and two steals, and Habiba Tahoun posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.

Bronx will return to action on Tuesday evening, as the Broncos will take to the road to battle Nassau. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 6:00pm.
