Broncos Opener Spoiled By Globe

The Bronx Community College Baseball team began their season Tuesday against Globe Institute of Technology. The Broncos would drop the opener to the Knights by a score of 6-3.

Bronx fell behind 5-0 early but chipped away with a run in the 6th and two in the 7th. Down 6-3 in the ninth, the Broncos brought the tying run to the plate, but their comeback fell short.

BCC was led by sophomore first baseman Victor Leroux who had three hits, two RBIs, and a stolen base finishing a home run away from the cycle. Danny Rojas and Freddy Garcia also contributed two hits apiece. Second year pitcher Luis Ortiz pitched a solid scoreless inning in relief.

The Broncos will next play on Sunday, when they will have a double header against the ASA Avengers. First pitch is set for noon at Ohio Field.
