Gerard Cole is entering his second season as an assistant for the Broncos women's basketball team.
Cole attended Binghamton University, where he obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in English. During his time at the institution, he served as student manager and administrative assistant for Binghamton University Men’s basketball, a Division I program in the American East Conference. As a student manager with the BU Men’s basketball team, Cole observed the rules and regulations of NCAA sports, applied and learned key coaching skills, facilitated drills for athletes, composed video tape footage for scouting and analyzing talent, managed the packaging and delivery of scouting tapes, and aided the Director of Basketball Operations with the planning of travel arrangements. In addition, Cole leveraged his relationship with the team and athletic department to establish a mentorship program with Binghamton University Athletes and Binghamton University’s Liberty Partnership Program (his former employer) at East Middle School in Binghamton NY.
In addition to his role with the Bearcats men’s basketball program, Cole also served as a sports marketing intern at BU. While working as a graduate intern with the sports marketing department, Coach Cole developed a strong understanding of BU’s athletic departments products, implemented marketing strategies and game day promotional activities for various sports, interacted with boosters and clients, which included making sales and prospecting for new business. Cole also worked with children’s team booster association to provide game day preparation for the American East Conference Tournament
Cole obtained a BA in English and a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences in Student Affairs and Diversity from Binghamton University.Additionally, he obtained another Master’s in Public Administration: Management and Operation from CUNY John Jay College, graduating with honors in 2017.
In addition, to his role on the women’s basketball staff, Cole serves as a Student Support Specialist at Bronx Community College for the College Discovery Program. Within his current role, Cole coordinates the activities of the counseling area, advises a caseload of students, monitors student progress, develops/facilitates workshops, and recruits program participants. He is also adept at developing intervention strategies and evaluating/assessing program outcomes and previously taught Student Development courses at Kingsborough Community College (CUNY).
