Cleon Hibbert was named head men's soccer coach at Bronx Community College in July of 2023.
"We are extremely excited to introduce Mr. Hibbert as the next leader of our men's soccer program," said Associate Athletic Director Michael Loeffler. "He brings over 25 years of versatile soccer experience with him to our institution, having played and coached the sport, while also serving as the club owner of Young Stars Academy. This will be his first head coaching assignment, and we believe the sky is the limit for him."
Prior to accepting the position at Bronx, Hibbert spent over five years as a coach at Cardinal Spellman High School. He was a volunteer in 2017, before transition to an assistant in 2018. In that role, he assisted the head coach in managing, training, and leading the team. Additionally, he developed strategies and training programs to enhance team performance and individual skill sets.
As a player, Hibbert enjoyed a decorated career, as he was a National representative for the Jamaica Youth National U20-U23 team from 1991-1994. From 1994-1995, he played professionally in the National Premier League, representing Jamaica at the highest level. In 1996, Hibbert won a championship with the Jamaica New York National U23 team.
On the business side, Hibbert has served as an owner and coach at Young Stars Academy in the Bronx for 20 years. There, he manages the soccer club, overseeing all coaching and management duties, and organizing local and regional tournaments.
Educationally, Hibbert attended Clarendon College High School in Jamaica from 1990-1994.
