Rick Swillinger became the first head coach in the history of the Monroe College - Bronx men's basketball program in May 2017. Swillinger accumulated a 40-47 record while leading the Express men's basketball program through their early years, including a 17-13 record in only their second year of competition.Â
Before becoming a collegiate head coach, Swillinger spent 18 years as the boys' varsity basketball coach at Walton High School in the Bronx. During his tenure, Walton finished as NYC Class A Champions in 2017 and Bronx Division A Champions in 2003 and 2014 under Swillinger's leadership.Â
Prior to Walton High School, Swillinger was the head women's basketball coach at Baruch College and interim head coach at John Jay College.Â
