Broncos win ninth consecutive game, thrashing BMCC, 75-22; CUNY Community College Conference Semifinals up next

The Bronx Community College women's basketball team capped off the 2025-2026 regular season with its ninth straight victory, blowing out the Panthers of BMCC in a CUNY Community College game by a score of 75-22. The game took place at the BMCC Gymnasium in New York, NY. With the triumph, the Broncos improved to 16-4 on the year, including a mark of 9-1 in conference play. The Panthers finalized their season at 0-15 (0-10 in conference action).

Pacing the Broncos in their victory was Ana Matos, as she connected on six of her nine shot attempts to finish with a team-high 14 points to go along with seven rebounds and a game-high five assists. Akira Robertson added 13 points and a pair of assists, and Akela Robertson finalized her evening with nine points, four assists, and two steals, and Ashley Hirado connected on three triples, finishing with nine points while tying for the game-high of eight rebounds and dishing three assists.

Despite the loss for the Panthers, BMCC was paced by Eliana Mera, as she scored a team-high 10 points to go along with four rebounds and two steals. Aviance Rosario netted seven points while snatching four rebounds, and Destiny Media scored five points for the hosts.

Bronx dominated the game from the opening tip, outscoring BMCC 23-2 in the opening quarter, and taking a commanding 44-6 advantage into the locker room at halftime. The Broncos continued to stretch their advantage in the second half, outscoring the Panthers 17-7 in the third, and 14-9 in the final period to account for the 53-point margin of victory.

The Broncos earned a conversion rate of 48.3 percent for the afternoon (28-58), while the Panthers connected on just nine out of 27 shots (33.3 percent). Bronx held a commanding 36-18 advantage on the glass, while also dishing 21 assists compared to just one for BMCC. The Broncos held advantages in steals (16-5) and blocked shots (2-0), while also winning the turnover battle, committing just 18 miscues, while the Panthers finished with 30.

Bronx will now have a long break, and will return to action on Tuesday, February 17, as the team will host the CUNY Community College Semifinals. The Broncos will take on LaGuardia, and start-time at the Alumni Gymnasium is scheduled for 7:00pm.
