2/3/2026 10:19:00 AM

The NJCAA announced its latest Division III national rankings on Monday, February 2, and for the first time in history, the Bronx Community College women's basketball team ranked in the top 15, placing 13th thanks to a stellar stretch that has featured the Broncos winning eight consecutive games since the calendar flipped to 2026. Following the reveal of the latest rankings, Head Coach Craig Williams praised his student-athletes for their tremendous collective effort.

"It comes with great gratification that this program is being recognized nationally in the NJCAA, and rightfully so", Williams said. "These student-athletes have worked incredibly hard since September, and their diligence and sacrifice has resulted in us picking up some great victories against some of the best teams in NJCAA Division III, NJCAA Region XV, and CUNY have to offer. Not only have these talented young women bought into the system of team basketball, but their chemistry has continued to grow. We're excited about our potential as a team as we go full steam ahead into the postseason."

The Broncos earned the No. 13 ranking in the latest NJCAA D3 poll thanks to some stellar wins over the month of January, starting with 80-79 triumph over Westchester at the Alumni Gymnasium back on January 3. In that contest, Bronx overcame a nine-point deficit late in the fourth quarter to snatch the thrilling win. 12 days later in a home game against the defending CUNY Community College champion Wave of Kingsborough (NJCAA #14), the Broncos trailed by six points at the half, before dominating the final 20 minutes to put away the Wave.

Bronx's most notable victory came recently, as the Broncos stunned NJCAA #6 Monroe University-Bronx, blowing out the Express by a score of 87-67 at the Monroe Athletic Complex in New Rochelle, NY (1/30). Bronx held a modest four-point lead at the half before outscoring the hosts by 16 points in the second half to run away with a win.

The Broncos have played incredible two-way basketball throughout the course of their first 19 games. Currently in NJCAA Region XV, Bronx ranks first in assists per game (17.4) and total blocked shots (47), second in steals per evening (14.9), third in points per game (70.1).

Bronx closes out the regular season on Thursday evening, as the Broncos will travel to the BMCC Gymnasium to battle the Panthers in a CUNY Community College game. After that, the Broncos will set their sights on the CUNY Tournament (February 17 and 20), and the NJCAA Region XV Tournament (February 24 and 28, March 1).
