Prolific Bronx offense (80-plus points in four straight contests) propels Broncos to 90-46 victory over Red Hawks

The Broncos' women's basketball team followed-up its tremendous victory over the Westchester Vikings this past Saturday by nailing down another win, blowing out the Red Hawks of LaGuardia by a score of 90-46. The game took place at the Alumni Gymnasium in the Bronx. With the victory, Bronx improved to a mark of 9-4 on the 2025-2026 campaign (6-1 CUNY), while the Red Hawks dipped to 3-7 (2-4 CUNY).

Destiny Davis put together another masterful performance for Bronx, connecting on 10 of her 17 shot attempts, as well of seven of her shots from the stripe, to finish with a game-high 27 points. She also snatched nine rebounds, dished six assists, and swiped four steals. Kolonnie Green posted another double-double, finalizing her evening with 14 points, game-highs of six steals and two blocks, while also registering three dimes. Angelina Gonzalez scored 14 points (6-10 FG) while recording three assists, two boards, and two steals, and Akira Robinson (7-12 FG) contributed 14 points, seven rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Finally, it was Yahannis Martinez nearly recording a triple-double, finishing with a game-high 11 assists to go along with nine points and nine rebounds.

Despite the loss for LaGuardia, the Red Hawks were paced by Yasmine "Akoni" Drysdale-Ash, as she scored a team-high 12 points to go along with three rebounds and two steals. Aniyah Williams netted 11 points, tied for the team-high of six boards, swiped a team-best five steals, and led the Red Hawks with four assists. Meniia Weeks contributed eight points and four rebounds, and Seynabou Diop finished with seven points, two boards, a pair of assists, and two steals.

With the conference clash tied at six apiece in the opening 6:33, the Broncos put together an 8-0 to take a 14-6 advantage. Davis and Martinez netted four points apiece during that aforementioned run. After a converted triple by Drysdale-Ash halted Bronx's momentum momentarily, the hosts would close the quarter with a 9-0 spurt (highlighted by Gonzalez's four points) to take a commanding 23-9 edge after 10 minutes of action.

Bronx started the second quarter with another push, rattling off 12 consecutive points on two consecutive Robertson buckets, and a hoop apiece from Ashley Hirado, Martinez, Davis, and Green. At that juncture, the hosts led 35-9. LaGuardia used a 7-0 run to try and climb back into the game, but the Broncos scored 11 of the next 13 points after that to go up 28 (46-18) as time expired on the first half.

Bronx's offense, which has now scored 80 points or more in four straight games, used eight points from Davis and six from Green in the third quarter to outscore the visitors 26-16. After three quarters of play, the Broncos held a 72-34 advantage.

In the fourth, the Broncos' defense closed things out, as Bronx only allowed two opposing field goals in the opening nine minutes of the quarter (and four overall) to slam the door. Bronx went up by as many as 48 points (90-42), before eventually capturing the win by 44.

The Broncos earned a conversion rate of 44.8 percent from the floor (39-87), while LaGuardia connected on just 18 of 55 shots (32.7 percent). Bronx was also the more efficient team from the stripe, nailing 11 of 17 shots there (64.7 percent), while the Red Hawks misfired on 11 freebees (8-19, 42.1 percent). Bronx held dominant edges in rebounds (60-32), assists (34-12), and steals (24-14). The Broncos also won the turnover battle, committing 27 miscues while the visitors finalized their evening with 40.
