The Broncos baseball team lost their final two home games of the 2025 regular season yesterday, falling to the Express of Monroe University-Bronx by scores of 7-5 and 12-5. The contests took place at Roberto Clemente State Park in the Bronx. With the defeats, the Broncos dipped to a mark of 19-19 on the season, while the Express improved to 27-14.

Game 1 of DH – Monroe-Bronx Express 7, Bronx Broncos 5

Giancarlo Leon led the Broncos' offensive attack in the opener, as he reached base three times, homering, hitting a single, and drawing a walk. He drove in a pair of runs and stole a base, while also denting home plate once. Jason Espinoza recorded two hits, doubling, smacking a single, and picking up an RBI, and Robert Genao reached base three times, walking twice, hitting a single, stealing two bases, and denting home plate twice.

Kevin Baez (4-5) got the start on the hill, tossing 2.2 innings and allowing five runs while yielding four hits, walking three batters, and hitting two. Anderson Puello Rosario hurled 3.1 innings in relief, allowing two runs and four hits while walking three and whiffing one.

Elijah Andino doubled twice and hit a single while picking up a game-high three RBI's and drawing a walk. Yan Ortiz Torres singled, drove in two, dented home plate twice, and drew a walk, and Christopher Marlin recorded an RBI double.

Brylyn Mateo (5-1) picked up the victory for the hosts, pitching six innings and allowing five runs on six hits while walking three, hitting two batters, and striking out eight. Isaul Lara picked up his first save of the season, tossing a frame and yielding just one walk while striking out one.

With the game knotted at one apiece in the top of the third, Leon's RBI single gave the Broncos a 2-1 advantage. The Express responded with four runs in the bottom of the frame to catapult ahead by a score of 5-2. Those four aforementioned runs came courtesy of a two-RBI single by Torres, and a two-run double by Andino.

Monroe University-Bronx added two more runs in the bottom of the fourth when Marlin drew a walk with the bases loaded, and Andino recorded an RBI single. That made it 7-2 in favor of the hosts, but the Broncos refused to go down quietly.

The Broncos scored two runs in the fifth when Genao scored on a passed ball, and Leon homered to center, as the visitors pulled to within three, 7-4. Bronx inched close in the top of the sixth when Jason Espinoza clocked an RBI single through the left side to slice the Express' edge to two, 7-5.

Bronx had an opportunity to tie the game in the top of the seventh, but Leon struck out as the potential tying run, ending the game.

Game 2 of DH – Monroe-Bronx Express 12, Bronx Broncos 5

Genao was the Broncos' primary offensive contributor in game two, as the standout launched a two-run homerun. Luis Villaman and Juan Rodriguez accounted for Bronx's other two hits – both singles. Justin Rosario Cruz tied for the game-high of two stolen bases.

Abel Acosta Vasquez took the loss for the Broncos on the mound, tossing 4.1 frames and allowing 10 runs (eight earned) on 12 hits while walking three, hitting a batter, and striking out three.

Robert Herrera put forth a sensational game at the plate, homering twice and adding a single while denting home plate three times and driving in six runs. Pablo Aquino hit a homerun and added a double while scoring four runs and driving in a pair, and Torres doubled, singled, hit a sacrifice fly, scored three runs, and drove in two.

Marcus Rodriguez struggled on the mound for the Express, but still picked up the win, throwing four innings and allowing five runs (four earned) while walking four, hitting a batter, and striking out seven.

Herrera gave Monroe University-Bronx an early advantage, launching a three-run homer in the bottom of the first to give the hosts a 3-0 advantage. The Broncos got two of those runs back in the top of the second when Rosario-Cruz stole third and scored on a throwing error by Monroe's catcher. A balk by Rodriguez brought home the second Broncos run to bring the visitors to within one, 3-2.

In the bottom of the second inning, with the hosts up 4-2, Herrera hit a two-run homerun, his second dinger of the game, to put Monroe University-Bronx ahead 6-2. The Broncos got those two runs back in the top of the third when Genao hit a two run homerun, bringing Bronx within a pair, 6-4.

From there, it was all Monroe University-Bronx, as the hosts outscored the visitors 6-1 the rest of the way to secure the victory. Torres and Herrera scored RBI singles in the bottom of the third inning, and, in an explosive bottom of the fifth, Aquino and Anthony Sanchez each homered, and Yadiel Santana smacked an RBI double.
