Broncos defeat Falcons twice at FDR High School in Staatsburg, NY, completing four-game sweep of series

The Broncos' baseball team continued to roll on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Falcons of Dutchess Community College by scores of 14-4 and 5-3. The contests took place at FDR High School in Staatsburg, NY. With the victories, Bronx completed a four-game sweep of Dutchess, improving to 7-11 on the 2025 season. The Falcons dipped to a mark of 0-8 on the year.

Game 1 of DH: Bronx Broncos 14, Dutchess Falcons 4

Offensively for the Broncos in their game one victory, Robert Genao was the team's primary run-producer, as he homered, singled, scored a pair of runs, and picked up three RBI. Justin Rosario Cruz and Juan Rodriguez singled three times apiece, with Rosario Cruz also scoring three runs, driving in one, stealing three bases, and drawing a walk. Justin Perez doubled, singled, scored four runs, stole a pair of bases, was hit by  a pitch, and picked up one RBI, and finally, Jason Espinoza reached base three times, singling, walking twice, stealing a base, and denting home plate once.

Anshel Novelo started and pitched well for the Broncos, earning his first victory of the 2025 campaign (1-2), as he tossed six frames, allowing three runs (none earned) on two hits while walking five and striking out 10.

With the NJCAA Region XV contest tied at three apiece after four innings of play, the Broncos turned up the voltage in the latter innings, plating two in the fifth, five more in the sixth, and four additional runs in the seventh to account for the 10-run margin of victory.

Game 2 of DH: Bronx Broncos 5, Dutchess Falcons 3

In the tightest game of the four-game series, the Broncos completed the four-game sweep thanks to seven singles for the game. William Whitcomb was the only Bronco to register multiple RBI in the contest, as he singled, scored a run, and drove in a pair. The other RBI-hit for Bronx came off the bat of Luis Torres, as he recorded a run-producing single. Genao was the lone Bronco to record multiple hits, as he singled twice and walked while denting home plate three times.

Kevin Baez started and picked up his first victory of 2025 (1-2), as he tossed 4.2 innings, allowing two runs (none earned) on four hits while issuing three walks, hitting two batters, and striking out two. Standout Frailin Jimenez picked up a seven-out save, allowing just one earned run on three hits while walking one and striking out six.

Leading 2-0 heading into the bottom of the third, Dutchess plated a pair of runs to square the contest at two apiece. Bronx snatched the lead back in the top of the fifth with two runs to take a 4-2 advantage, eventually winning the game 5-3.

Up next for the Broncos

The Broncos will begin a very important series this Tuesday against the defending CUNY champions, the Wave of Kingsborough Community College, as the teams will lock horns in a single, nine-inning contest at Ohio Field. Start-time for the conference clash is scheduled for 3:00pm.
