Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's basketball earns 48.5 percent field goal conversion rate, still suffers defeat to Region XV foe Westchester, 93-81

The Broncos' women's basketball team suffered a Region XV loss on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Vikings of Westchester by a score of 93-81. The game took place at the Viking Gymnasium in Valhalla, NY. With the defeat, Bronx dipped to a mark of 7-4 on the 2025-2026 campaign, while Westchester improved to 8-3.

Despite the loss for the Broncos, standout Destiny Davis scored a team-high 26 points (12-22 FG) while adding a game-high 11 assists. Akela Robertson knocked down four triples, and seven of her 15 shot attempts overall, finishing with 19 points, seven assists, and four rebounds. Ashley Hirado added 14 points, and Kolonnie Green just missed registering another double-double, as she finalized her afternoon with 13 points, nine rebounds, a game-high four blocked shots, three steals, and two assists.

In the victory for the Vikings, Saniya Bell scored a game-high 37 points. She also collected 12 rebounds, dished three assists, blocked a pair of shots, and swiped two steals. Daveya Rodriguez contributed 18 points and seven boards while tying for the team-high of six assists, and recording a game-best four steals. Tiandra Martin and Angelica Rios scored 11 points apiece, with Martin's 13 rebounds leading all players. Rios, in addition to her 11 points, collected eight boards and dished five assists.

For the Broncos, it was the second consecutive game in which they scored 80 points, but unlike last Tuesday's victory at LaGuardia in which the defense was strong, Bronx had a difficult time keeping up with the stellar offense of the Westchester.

Bronx lost the contest despite shooting a higher percentage from the floor, as the visitors earned a 48.5 percent conversion rate, connecting on 32 out of 66 shot attempts. The Vikings shot just a cut below 44 percent for the afternoon, draining 35 of 80 attempts (43.8 percent). Westchester held a commanding 50-22 edge on the glass, while also holding advantages in assists (30-24) and steals (10-6). The hosts also won the turnover battle, committing just 14 miscues on the day, while the Broncos finished with 20.

The Broncos will now have 20 days off before returning to the court on Saturday, January 3. On that day, Bronx will have another opportunity to defeat Westchester, as the Vikings will come to the Alumni Gymnasium for a Saturday matinee. Start-time for the Region XV clash is set for 1:00pm.
