Women's volleyball endures challenging weekend, dropping four matches

The Broncos' women's volleyball team endured a challenging weekend, dropping four consecutive matches. On Saturday afternoon, Bronx suffered 3-0 setbacks to the Nassau Lions (by scores of 16-25, 10-25, and 3-25) and Monroe-University Bronx (by scores of 15-25, 20-25, 19-25). A day later, the Broncos dropped 3-0 contests to Rockland (by scores of 13-25, 16-25, and 10-25) and Westchester (by scores of 17-25, 18-25, and 14-25).

Despite the loss to the Lions on Saturday, Shanice Walters led all Broncos with a pair of kills. She also registered two digs for the match. Pamela Sierra contributed team-highs of seven digs and two service aces. Naomi Rodriguez posted a team-high three assists.

For Nassau, Hannah Clarke led all players with 11 kills. Sarah Kollarik contributed 10 kills, five service aces, and three digs, and Ana Simancas-Franco finished with five kills. Setter Elizabeth Wagner's 24 assists were a match-high, and Allison Salinas' 12 digs and seven service aces were both match-highs.

In the Broncos' loss to the Express of Monroe University-Bronx, Andrea Ramos recorded two kills, two service aces, and three digs. Rodriguez added six assists and three digs, and Valerie De Los Santos piled 11 digs.

Against Rockland, Pamela Sierra finished with four kills and a pair of digs, and Ramos finished with two kills, five digs, and a pair of service aces. Rodriguez piled 10 digs while also adding five assists despite the loss.

Pamela Sierra put forth a tremendous effort against the Vikings of Westchester, recording 11 kills, eight digs, and three service aces. Shanice Walter finished with two kills, and Rodriguez piled 13 assists. Finally, it was De Los Santos adding five digs.

The Broncos will now have five days off before returning to the court to participate in another tri-match, this time in Poughkeepsie, NY against Dutchess Community College (12pm) and Orange County Community College (1:15pm).
