With the two losses, Bronx dipped to a mark of 4-11 on the 2024 campaign. Nassau improved to 5-8 with Tuesday's victory, and the Colts upper their mark to 19-12 with their triumph yesterday. April 9, 2024 – Nassau 14, Bronx 4 (7 Innings) Bronx took an early 1-0 advantage in the top of the first inning when Brayan Rubio singled home Joel Salcedo with one out. Nassau tied the game in the bottom half of the frame when Chris Picarella laced a two-out RBI double, scoring Joseph Lynn. After the Broncos failed to score in the second inning, the Lions took the lead by denting home plate twice in the bottom of the second, courtesy of an RBI single by John Dinkelman, and later, a wild pitch by Frailin Jimenez that allowed Dinkelman to score from third base. Nassau broke the game open in the bottom of the third, scoring five times to take an 8-1 advantage. The highlight of the inning came when Ryan Johnston registered an inside-the-park three-run homerun. The Lions' other two runs in the inning were scored courtesy of a two-RBI single by Sean Richards that scored Dinkelman and Marcello Arrigo. Later, leading 12-4 heading into the bottom of the seventh, the Lions plated two runs to trigger the 10-run mercy rule after seven turns at-bat. Nassau's two runs in the seventh came courtesy of RBI singles by Johnston and Zaim Deljanin. Leading the way offensively for the Broncos in the game were Salcedo and Steven Santos, with both registering multi-hit afternoons. Salcedo doubled, singled, and scored a run, while Santos singled twice and walked. Brayan Rubio singled and picked up an RBI, and Brayant Taylor doubled and drove in a run. The Lions recorded 17 hits on the afternoon, with Deljanin recording a game-high four hits, all singles. He also scored a run and drove in one, as well. Johnston nearly hit for the cycle, hitting a homerun and recording a triple and a single while scoring two runs and driving in a game-high five. Arrigo singled three times, dented home plate once, picked up an RBI, and stole two bases. Chris Picarella tripled, doubled, scored three times, registered an RBI, walked, and stole a base, and Chris Richards singled, walked, and drove in a pair. Jimenez took the loss on the hill for the Broncos, tossing four frames and allowing nine runs (all earned) on 10 hits while walking six, throwing two wild pitches, and striking out one. For Nassau, James Reilly pitched five brilliant innings, allowing just one run (earned) on five hits while walking one and striking out seven. April 10, 2024 – Middlesex 17, Bronx 5 (7 Innings) The Colts dominated the game from start to finishing plating two runs in each of the first three innings to snatch a commanding 6-0 advantage. The hosts piled on from there, denting home plate four times in the bottom of the second inning to make it 10-0, and, after Bronx got on the board in the top of the fifth, Middlesex scored six more times to take a 16-1 advantage after five innings if play. After both squads scored once apiece in the sixth, the Broncos plated three runs in the top of the seventh, unable to prevent the 10-run mercy rule from triggering after seven complete turns at-bat, as the Colts won the game by 12. Despite the Broncos' loss on Wednesday, Bronx still registered 11 hits. Rubio picked up the team's only extra-base hit of the afternoon, a double. He finished two-for-three with a two bagger, a single, a run scored, one RBI, and a walk. Martinez, Cristhian Gonzales, Euniel De La Rosa, and Juan Rodriguez each singled twice. De La Rosa picked up two RBI's, with Gonzales adding one as well. Middlesex recorded 14 hits in its victory over the Broncos, with Jhoalvin Ledesma recording a game-high four hits, including two doubles and two singles. He also scored four runs while stealing two bases and driving in four. Conor Drury singled twice, scored twice, drove in a run, and walked, and Michael Wansaw doubled, singled, scored three runs, picked up an RBI, and walked. Alex Turner registered three RBI's on the afternoon, with Brett Lukachyk doubling and driving home two, as well. Eilan Corporan took the loss for the Broncos on the hill, allowing 12 runs (10 earned) on 10 hits while issuing six walks, throwing a wild pitch, hitting a batter, and striking out one. Alex Lisandro Gomez didn't fare much better in relief, allowing five runs (two earned) on four hits while walking three, throwing two wild pitches, and striking out one. Michael Canavesio earned the victory for the Colts, tossing five frames and allowing one run (earned) on five hits while walking one batter and striking out eight.
