Ana Matos' clutch jumper with 10 seconds remaining gives Broncos 63-62 victory over Tigers

The Broncos' women's basketball team picked up a thrilling victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Queensborough Community College Club team by a score of 63-62 after freshman Ana Matos connected on a go-ahead jumper with 10 seconds remaining. With the victory, Bronx improved to a mark of 3-5 on the season, while the Tigers dipped to 1-6 on the 2024-2025 campaign.

Pacing Bronx in its victory was Yahannis Martinez, as she scored 28 points while collecting 15 rebounds. She also swiped four steals and dished three assists. Matos, like Martinez, posted a double-double with 25 points, 20 rebounds, four steals, and a pair of assists, and Angelina Gonzalez finalized her afternoon with five points, 10 rebounds, and three assists.

Bronx converted on 38 percent of its attempts from the floor for the afternoon (27-71) while grabbing 63 rebounds (20 on the offensive glass), swiping 11 steals, and dishing eight assists.

The Broncos will wrap up calendar year 2024 on Tuesday evening, as Bronx will welcome LaGuardia Community College to the Alumni Gymnasium for a CUNY Community College Conference clash. Start-time is scheduled for 6:00pm.
