Bronx falls to Kingsborough in CUNYAC action; Katherine Reyes scores team-high 14 points despite defeat

The Broncos' women's basketball suffered a CUNYAC defeat on Thursday evening, falling to the Wave of Kingsborough Community College by a score of 119-23. With the defeat, Bronx slipped to a mark of 0-3 on the 2023-2024 campaign (0-1 CUNYAC), while the Wave stayed unblemished, improving to 3-0 (1-0 CUNYAC).

Despite the loss for Bronx, Katherine Reyes registered team-highs of 14 points and four steals, while also tying for team-high in rebounds with three. Susan Williamson also contributed seven points on the evening.

In the victory for Kingsborough, six players scored in double figures, including Jayden Vega, as she scored a game-high 21 points (9-12 FG) while also tying for the game-highs of six assists and four steals. Tionna Davis netted 18 points (8-11 FG) whiel tallying four assists and swiping three steals, and Aliyah Smith finalized her evening by scoring 17 points (8-12 FG), and tying for the game-highs of six assists and four steals). Angela Macias (15 points), Desiree Ford (12 points), and Murray Nelson (11 points) were the other Kingsborough players to score in double figures.

The Wave held a 34-10 advantage after one quarter of play and never looked back, outscoring Bronx 85-13 over the final 23:07 of game action to win the game going away.

Bronx will look to bounce back on Saturday afternoon, as the Broncos will welcome Rockland Community College to the Alumni Gymnasium. Start time for the contest is scheduled for 1:00pm.
