Katherine Reyes registers double-double in Broncos' loss to Nassau Community College

The Broncos women's basketball team dropped its second straight game to open the 2023-2024 campaign on Tuesday evening, falling to the Lions of Nassau Community College by a score of 69-23. The contest took place at the Alumni Gymnasium in the Bronx. While Bronx is now 0-2 on the season, the Lions stayed unblemished at 3-0.

Despite the loss for the Broncos, Katherine Reyes posted a double-double, registering a team-highs of 14 points and seven steals, while also tying for the game-high in rebounds with 10. Susan Williamson connected on three of her five attempts from the charity stripe, contributing five points, and Rachel McGuire snatched five boards and swatted a pair of shots.

In the victory for Nassau, Aiyana Hamilton scored a game-high 18 points, knocking down nine of her 13 shot attempts in the process. She also tied for the game-high of 10 rebounds, with eight of those caroms coming on the offensive glass. Hamilton added four steals, as well. Makaylah Frazier was nearly perfect shooting the basketball, sinking six of her seven shot attempts, and finalizing her evening with 12 points. Tonianne Hurd contributed nine points and a game-high 10 steals, and Carmen Jean's 10 boards tied her for the game-high.

Nassau completely dominated the opening half, outscoring the hosts 51-9. The final two quarters were more competitive, with the Lions scoring 18 points over the final 20 minutes, and Bronx netting 14.

The Broncos will look to bounce back on Thursday evening, as Bronx travels to Brooklyn, NY to take on CUNYAC foe Kingsborough Community College. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 6:00pm.
