Four Broncos score in double figures, but Bronx falls to Essex, 94-77

The Broncos men's basketball team suffered a loss this past Saturday, falling to the Wolverines of Essex County College by a score of 94-77. The contest took place in Newark, NJ. With the defeat, Bronx slipped to 0-14 on the 2022-2023 campaign, while improved to 7-6.

Despite the loss for Bronx, the Broncos were paced by Herbert Gary, as he posted a double-double with team-highs of 19 points and 21 rebounds. Taijay Good connected on three shots from downtown, finishing with 13 points, three rebounds, and three assists, and Ramon Santos IV scored 13 points (5-8 FG) and snatched five boards. Michael Melhado added 10 points, and Enmanuel Garcia contributed nine points, 14 rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and a pair of steals.

In the victory for Essex, Jaheim Lewis drilled six shots from long range, finishing with a game-high 26 points (9-18 FG, 6-10 3pt FG), to go along with four assists, three boards, and three steals. Andrew Sylvestre scored 17 points, and Pascal Dodard and Koi Kirk Jr. netted 12 points apiece.

Bronx will now break for the Christmas holiday before returning to action on Saturday, January 7, as the Broncos will host the Tigers of Queensborough in a CUNYAC clash. Start-time for that contest is scheduled for 3:00pm.
