Broncos pick up first win with 3-1 victory at SUNY Orange

NEWBURGH, NY – Bronx men's soccer earned its first win of 2021, 3-1 at SUNY Orange on Saturday afternoon in NJCAA Region XV play. 

Midfielder Kevin Mendoza started the scoring by converting a penalty kick 11:49 into the contest. The Colts added a score of their own, and the teams entered halftime tied at 1-1. 

Out of the intermission, forward Jordy Leon struck on a feed from fellow freshman Elder Rabanales in the 48th minute, putting the Broncos on top for good. Fellow freshman Elder Rabanales added an insurance tally in the 78th minute off a feed from sophomore Baba Anne, cementing head coach Dan Cinelli's first win in Green & Gold. 


Goalkeeper Jaafar Haidara made eight saves for the Broncos, earning his first collegiate win. 

Now even at 1-1-0 on the season (1-1-0 Region XV), Bronx will begin CUNYAC play on Wednesday in its home opener vs. Kingsborough CC at 4:00.
