BRONX, NY - The Bronx Broncos lose their second consecutive game, being defeated by the Westchester Vikings, 97-76.
It was a tough night for the Broncos as they lost big in a game where they never lead. The Vikings came into the night 3-0, including a 31-point victory over #7 Hostos CC. The Vikings came out of the gate firing getting out to a huge 30-10 lead, 10 minutes into the game. With six minutes remaining in the first half, the Vikings lead the Broncos by 31 points. The Broncos struggled on defense again, allowing 72% shooting from the field in the first half.
The Broncos came out of halftime on a mission, cutting the lead to nine, only four minutes into second-half play. Freshman guard
Malik Dale played a huge part in the comeback, knocking down clutch threes, leading to his 21-point night. Unfortunately for the Broncos, that is as close they would get with Westchester eventually jumping back out to a 19-point lead down the stretch. Freshman guard
Michael Morgan lead the Broncos in scoring with 26 points on 10-24 shooting from the field.
Julien Shepard was the only other Bronco in double digits with 10 points.
Eisaiah Murphy lead the charge for the Vikings, posting a 28pts-10rebs-6asts-2stls-2blks stat line. Westchester shot 60% from the field, 43% from three, and 62% from the free-throw line. The Broncos shot at an identical 41% from the field in both halves, 35% from three, and 58% from the free-throw line.
Westchester improves to 4-0 while averaging over 100 points per game. Bronx drops to 1-2(0-1) and will look to bounce back Tuesday against Nassau CC at Alumni Gym.
