Speedy Caimans deal Broncos 75-16 defeat on opening night; Jada Parker scores in double figures (10 points) in Bronx debut

The Broncos women's basketball team (0-1 Overall, 0-1 CUNYAC) started its 2019-2020 campaign with a loss on Tuesday evening, falling to the Caimans of Hostos Community College (1-0 Overall, 1-0 CUNYAC) by a score of 75-16. The game took place at the Alumni Gym on the campus of Bronx Community College.

It was a dominant performance by visiting Hostos. The three-time defending CUNYAC titlists, the Caimans, were paced by Moreina Moore, as she drilled 10 of her 15 shots from the floor to finish with a game-high 22 points. She also added eight steals, five assists, and a pair of rebounds. Ayana Brown finalized her evening with 12 points and six boards, and Sharay Hannah and Samantha Garced registered 10 points apiece. Sydney John was tenacious on defense all evening, as he totaled 12 steals (a game-high) while contributing six points and six boards.

Despite the loss for Bronx, standout Jada Parker started her season with a double-figure performance, as she scored 10 points. She also added six rebounds, and a team-high three steals. Natalie Encarnacion added four points and five caroms, and Sophia Ridley snatched a team-high 10 boards.

The Broncos will have a week to regroup, as they'll return to action on Tuesday evening, November 12, when they take on the Express of Monroe-Bronx. The game will take place in New Rochelle, NY, with a start-time of 5:00pm.
