Broncos overwhelmed by Queensborough in three sets in 2019 CUNYAC Tournament semifinals on Monday evening

The Broncos saw their quest for a 2019 CUNYAC/Pepsi Community College Women's Volleyball title come to an end on Monday evening, as No. 4 seeded Bronx fell to No. 1 seeded Queensborough by scores of 12-25, 10-25, and 9-25.

The Broncos finalized their campaign at 3-19, while the Tigers improved to 18-5 overall, advancing to the CUNYAC Championship match for the seventh consecutive year.

Leading the way for Bronx despite the loss was freshman Nayely Rodriguez, as she recorded team-highs of two kills, eight digs, and three assists. Cleimy Ozoria added a kill and six digs, and Nossamba Kone and Nicole Santos each finalized their evenings with one kill and four digs.

Pacing Queensborough in its victory was Tiffany Garcia Lawson, as she finished with a match-high 12 kills while hitting .455 for the match. Georgia Alexiou added eight kills, five digs, and four service aces, and Amira Durkovic contributed a match-high 27 assists.

As a team, Queensborough recorded 12 service aces and hit .342 for the match, committing just 11 errors in the three sets.
