The Broncos saw their quest for a Region XV championship end on Friday afternoon, as Bronx defeated Queensborough by a score of 12-2 (game was called due to the 10-run mercy rule after six innings) in today's 10:00am contest, but lost to Nassau Community College by a score of 14-1 in the 4:00pm game. With today's output, Bronx finalized its season at 21-14. All games took place at the PAL Sports Complex in Holtsville, NY.

After Bronx' defeat yesterday to Suffolk, the Broncos would have had to go through the remainder of the tournament without another defeat in order to become Region XV titlists. After staying alive with a dominant 12-2 win over the Tigers in what was a rematch of the 2018 CUNYAC title game, Bronx was unable to extend its season, suffering a campaign-ending loss to the Lions.

Bronx and Queensborough were knotted a two runs a piece after two innings of play, but the Broncos ran away with the game from there, scoring three runs in the bottom of the third, a run apiece in both the fourth and fifth frames, and five more in the bottom of the sixth to account for the 12-2 mercy rule victory after six innings.

Alexander Pimentel was called on to start for Bronx. Four days earlier, Pimental had dominated the Tigers, allowing just two unearned runs on four hits while walking one and striking out one. He also was able to get the Tigers to bounce into three double plays on the evening. Today, he was equally as affective, tossing a complete game (six innings) and earning the victory, allowing two runs (none earned) on three hits while issuing five free passes and striking out two batters.

Offensively for Bronx in its convincing triumph over Queensborough, it was
Marlon Bautista putting forth an incredible effort, as he homered and doubled while scoring three runs, driving in four, and walking twice. Emmanuel Frias recorded a round-tripper while also scoring a run, driving in one, and drawing a walk. Derek Galvez recorded a pair of hits on the day, doubling and singling while scoring a run, and Steven Santana collected three singles and picked up two RBI.

In Bronx' game against Nassau, the Lions used two big innings, scoring six runs apiece in both the bottom of the second inning and the bottom of the fourth inning. Nassau would eventually win the contest via the 10-run mercy rule after five innings of play (14-1).

Ariel Irving Lora got the start, but he did not have it for the Broncos, as he allowed 14 runs (seven earned) on 15 hits while walking two and striking out two.

Offensively for Bronx in its game against the Lions,
Jeffrey Almanzar accounted for the Broncos' only run of the contest, as he hit a homerun while also recording a single. He scored a run, and also recorded an RBI. Justin Nunez doubled and singled, and Raynel Cabrera recorded a two-bagger.

Keep it posted to BronxBroncos.com tomorrow, as the 2018 Region XV All-Stars will be announced.
