Bronx drops 2018 NJCAA Region XV Championship Tournament game to Suffolk 11-6 at PAL Sports Complex

The Broncos dropped a 2018 NJCAA Region XV Championship Tournament contest on Friday afternoon, falling to the Sharks of Suffolk County Community College by a score of 11-6. With the loss, Bronx slipped to 20-13 on the season, while the Sharks improved their mark to 28-10. The game took place at PAL Sports Complex in Holtsville, NY.

Bronx held a 2-0 lead after scoring a pair of runs in the top of the third inning, but Suffolk stormed back with eight runs in the bottom of the third to catapult ahead by a score of 8-2. The Broncos would battle back with three runs in the top of the fourth to pull to within three runs at 8-5, but the Sharks would outscore Bronx 3-1 the rest of the way to account for the 11-6 win.


Aaron Bonilla Suarez – who pitched in Monday's CUNYAC title game for Bronx – drew the start for the Broncos. He hurled four innings, allowing eight runs (three earned) on seven hits while walking two batters and striking out two. He earned the loss on the afternoon.

Offensively for the Broncos,
Jeffrey Almanzar recorded a pair of doubles while also scoring two runs and driving in one. Emmanuel Frias doubled, singled, and picked up an RBI, and Justin Nunez singled twice, scored a run, and drove home two. Steven Santana doubled, dented home plate twice, scored two runs, and drew a walk.

Bronx will return to action tomorrow, as it will continue play in the 2018 NJCAA Region XV Championship Tournament against either Queensborough in the 10:00am game.
