Box Score The Bronx Community College baseball team opened up its season on Tuesday afternoon with a defeat, falling to the Senators of Ulster County Community College by a score of 12-3 in six innings. The game took place in Stone Ridge, NY.
The Broncos plated a run in the top of the second inning to take a 1-0 advantage, but the Senators would push across three runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 3-1 lead. The score would remain that way until the top of the fifth inning, when Bronx Community College would score a pair of runs to tie the game at three apiece.
Ulster County Community College would put the game away in the bottom half of the sixth inning, scoring nine runs to take a commanding 12-3 lead. The Senators would win the game by that same nine-run edge.
Despite the loss for the Broncos, Emmanuel Frias went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Derek Galvez had 2 singles while also picking up an RBI, and Kevin Almonte walked twice and drove in a run. In all, the Broncos recorded six hits on the afternoon.
In a winning effort for the Senators, John Dell'Olio picked up a pair of hits including a homerun while scoring three times and picking up an RBI. Henry Heredia added a double and a single in four plate appearances while scoring twice and driving in three runs, and Max Labarbera added two hits including a two-bagger, while scoring a run and recording three RBI.
Kevin Gerson took the loss for Bronx Community College, while Kyle Kolodziejski picked up the victory for Ulster Community College, as he hurled two scoreless innings of relief, allowing just one hit while walking one and striking out one. The Senators' original starting pitcher – Andrew Huffman – logged four innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits while issuing three free passes and whiffing seven.
