The Broncos of Bronx Community College split a CUNYAC doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, splitting a pair of contests with the Tigers of Queensborough Community College. The Broncos fell 7-2 in the opener, before defeating the Tigers 4-3 in game two. With today's output, Bronx Community College is now 5-6 on the 2018 season (3-1 CUNYAC), while Queensborough Community College is now 7-4 (1-3 conference action).

In the Tigers' only victory in the four games that the two conference foes played this week, Queensborough would dent home plate four times in the bottom of the first inning to race out to an early commanding 4-0 edge. The Tigers would extend that lead by score a run in the bottom of the third to take a 5-0 lead. The Broncos would plate a run in the top of the fourth, but Queensborough would add two more in the bottom of the fifth to break the game open. The Tigers led 7-1 at that point, eventually going on to win the game 7-2.

The Broncos were only able to muster a pair of runs and seven singles in the opener.
Marlon Bautista and Jeffrey Almanzar recorded to base hits apiece, with Almanzar also recording an RBI. Kevin Almonte singled and stole a base, and cleanup hitter Derek Galvez singled, drove in a run, and score once.

Bronx Community College starting pitcher Kevin Gerson struggled in receiving the start and loss in this game, as he pitched just one and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs (two earned) on one hit while walking four and striking out three. Reliever
Jesse Castillo simply did not have it either, as he hurled four and one-third innings, allowing three runs and four hits while walking three and striking out four.

In game two of the doubleheader, it was the Broncos' dealing the Tigers yet another heartbreaking loss. Bronx Community College scored three runs in the top of the first inning, and held a 4-2 edge heading into the bottom of the seventh. Queensborough was only able to push across one run in the bottom half of the inning, as the Broncos held on for the one-run win.

Aaron Bonilla Suarez went the distance for the Broncos in game two, tossing a complete game and allowing just one earned run. He allowed just seven hits while walking two and striking out four. He now has two of the Broncos' five wins on the mound this season.

Offensively in game two for Bronx Community College,
Raudy Alberto Acosta singled twice in three at-bats while scoring a run and drawing a walk. Michael Mateo singled, drove in two runs, and walked twice, and Christian Cedeno reached base three times, singling twice and reaching base via a walk.

The Broncos will return to action on Tuesday afternoon, as Bronx Community College will take on Monroe College-Bronx in a non-conference contest at Ohio Field. First pitch for that game is scheduled for 2:00pm.
