Asia Nelson's 20-point, 23-rebound performance propels Broncos to 65-58 triumph over Kingsborough Thursday evening

The Broncos' women's basketball team picked up a victory last night at the Alumni Gymnasium, defeating CUNYAC foe Kingsborough by a score of 65-58. With the win, Bronx is now 1-1 on the 2018-2019 campaign (1-0 in conference competition), while the Wave dipped to 0-2 overall on the season (0-2 CUNYAC).

Veteran Asia Nelson put together a dominant performance for Bronx in the win, as she totaled 20 points while snatching 23 rebounds, tallying two steals and blocking a shot. Nia Simmons added 14 points, five assists, and four rebounds, and Kayla Martinez posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Broncos connected on 44.1 percent of their shots from the floor (26-59), but struggled mightily at the line, misfiring on 18 of their 28 attempts (35.7 percent). Bronx collected 57 rebounds as a team, including 23 on the offensive side.

Bronx will now have four days off before returning to action on Tuesday, as the Broncos will take to the road to battle Hostos Community College in another CUNYAC contest. Start-time for that game is scheduled for 6:00pm.
