The Broncos' men's soccer team dropped a CUNYAC match on Tuesday afternoon, falling to the Tigers of Queensborough by a score of 5-1 at Ohio Field in the Bronx. The defeat officially eliminated the Broncos from contention for the CUNYAC championship match.
The Tigers peppered two balls into the goal within the first 14 minutes of action. Jeffrey Castaneda netted an unassisted goal at 5:16, and that was followed by a Luis Flores goal, which was also unassisted, at 13:21. Bronx cut into that Queensborough lead at 23:02 when Amadou Agoroh found the back of the net (from
Shaibu Musah) to make it 2-1 in favor of the Tigers.
Later, Queensborough would add a pair of goals to jump out to a commanding 4-1 lead. The first of those tallies came at 34:53 when Castaneda would notch his second goal of the game. The other came courtesy of the foot of Jose Ramirez at 41:23 (from Castaneda).
The Tigers would score the lone goal of the second peior at 53:28 when Luis Flores would blast a ball into the net (from Flores and Rhys Bucknor). That put Queensborough ahead big, 5-1, and that would end up being the final score on the afternoon.
Queensborough out-shot Bronx by a count of 23-14 for the day. Tiger goaltender Brayan Manzano made four saves while allowing the one goal.
Bronx will return to action on Thursday evening, as the Broncos will travel to Poughkeepsie, NY to battle Dutchess Community College. Start-time is scheduled for 7:00pm.
