Three Broncos post double-doubles, but Bronx Community College drops 101-73 non-conference contest to Owls

Box Score The Bronx Community College Broncos dropped their fifth consecutive game on Thursday evening, falling to the Owls of Union County College by a score of 101-73 in a contest played in Cranford, New Jersey. With the defeat, the Broncos slipped to a ledger of 6-14 on the 2017-2018 campaign, while the Owls improved their record to 9-10 on the year.

Despite the loss for Bronx Community College, Rafael Ruan put forth a strong effort for the Broncos, as he posted a double-double with 17 points, 20 rebounds, and four steals while playing all 40 minutes. Hector Montano Valenzuela netted 18 points while snatching 11 rebounds, tallying five assists, and recording three steals, and Jeremy Heron added 18 points and four rebounds.

Bronx Community College struggled with its shot on the evening, nailing just 30.9 percent of its attempts from the floor (29-94), but the Broncos did rebound the basketball fairly well, as they pulled down 58 caroms, including 32 on the offensive glass.

The Broncos will return to action Tuesday evening, as they will head to Poughkeepsie, NY to take on Dutchess Community College Falcons in a non-conference contest. Start-time is scheduled for 7:00pm. The Broncos previously defeated Dutchess by a score of 83-72 back on December 12 at the Alumni Gymnasium.
