April 25, 2016 - Bronx, NY
On a nice, clear, cloudless Spring 2016 day, the beauty of historic Ohio Field on the Bronx CC campus was the perfect place to view CUNY Athletic Conference baseball games.
The Broncos played 2 home games against Borough of Manhattan CC Panthers.
Bronx CC won both games. The 1st game by score of 5-4 and the 2nd game by score of 9-0.
Both teams had sound game strategy plans. The action had players show excellence and there were costly errors by both team. It was exciting baseball in which each team had many opportunities to score runs followed by poor execution.
The Broncos pitching was consistent and produced positive results when needed in both games. Paul Cardona started the 1st game for the Broncos, allowed 6 hits, 4 runs and struck out 5. He allowed a BMCC home run in the last inning after walking the 1st batter he faced.
Freshman Luis Montesino saved the game for Paul Cardona by facing 4 batters, striking out 2 while allowing 1 hit.
Luis Montesino won the 2nd game by pitching 6 innings of 3 hit baseball while striking out 6 and walking 5. He faced 24 batters and threw 12 first pitch strikes to make the at Bats difficult for BMCC good hitters.
The Bronx CC team season record is Win – 7 Loss – 15 and 1 Tie.
In the CUNYAC the Broncos are Win – 4 Loss – 4.
