Santiago and the Broncos trot past Queensborough

BCC picked up a win against the Tigers of Queensborough in the first matchup between the CUNYAC rivals. After the lopsided 12-1 victory, the Broncos remain in sole possession of first place in the conference with a 4-1 record (6-9 overall).

Second year player Lutty Santiago pitched lights out throughout the game, giving up just one run while striking out 5 without recording a walk. The offense matched the effort put in by Santiago and the Broncos wrapped up the game in 5 short innings due to the 10-run rule.

Their offense came out swinging and by the end of the game, every player had reached base safely. Yasser Mendez led the team with 2 hits while bringing in 2 runs. Gregory Perdomo, Andres Otero, and Christian Disla joined him with multiple RBIs this game. Edwin Hidalgo showed off his speed as he swiped 3 bases to put him in a position to score three runs.

The Broncos will be back to action this Friday when the return to Bayside to take on the Tigers in Game 2 of the series. They will finish up their series against QCC with a doubleheader at Ohio Field this Saturday.
