Rain Washes Away Bronx Chance to Upset

3/26/2015 1:05:00 PM

Box Score March 26, 2015 – Bronx, NY

Harsh winds, low temps, and a constant downpour made for terrible playing conditions last night as the Broncos looked to upset the Monroe Mustangs. Entering the game they had their sights set on a competitive matchup against a tough NJCAA Division 1 opponent, but the young BCC team could not overcome the inclement weather as they were trounced 17-1.

The loss brought the Broncos to a 0-3 start for the season, while the Mustangs improved to 11-5. Though Monroe had more experience this season, players on both sides struggled to grip the ball in a game filled with wild pitches, hit batters, and throwing errors.

With the defense having a rough time battling against the weather, the offense did not fare much better. It was not until the 4th inning when Francisco Ogando grounded out to the opposite side of the infield, allowing for Christian Disla to come in from third that the Bronx finally got on the scoreboard. Justin Soto tallied the only hit for the Broncos when he drilled a pitch into centerfield for a double.

The Broncos look to put this game behind them in their next game when they take on regional opponent, the Kingsborough. They look to settle the score against the Wave after they lost the first matchup in this season series. Come out to Ohio Field this Sunday to watch this rivalry game, first pitch is set for 12pm.
