Broncos suffered a loss in their home opener to reigning CUNYAC champions Kingsborough Wave. Several players had impressive games despite the 9-2 defeat.

Yasser Mendez continued his hot start to the season, going 2-4 and batting in a run. Mendez has tallied a double in each of his first two games this season. Freshman Francisco Ogando had a standout game on offense, going 2-3 with 2 walks, a stolen base, and a run scored.

Star pitcher Ruben Gomez rebounded from a tough outing in his debut, striking out 3 batters in 2 shutout innings of relief. Johan Mercedes matched his strikeout number, while keeping Kingsborough scoreless in his 2 innings of work.

The Bronx baseball team returns to action this afternoon when they take on the Monroe Mustangs at Ohio Field. First pitch is set for 3:30 pm.?
