Broncos Comeback to Top Panthers

2/5/2014 10:16:00 PM

Box Score 2/5/14 – Bronx, NY

The Broncos got back in the win column with an 82-67 victory over BMCC last night. The win avenged a loss earlier in the season to the Panthers, and keeps them ahead of Manhattan in both the CUNYAC and Region XV standings.

Kevin Vanderpool led the Broncos with 26 points and 11 boards, yet BCC saw five players in double figures in scoring. Jordan Webb had one of his best performances of the season with 14 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Not to be outdone, Christopher Valez had a strong night, chipping in 11 points of his own.

Scoring was sparse in the first period as the Broncos struggled for consistency. BMCC opened up a 7 point lead early, one they would build to as much as 13 during the half. Bronx found themselves trailing by 8 when the first buzzer sounded, 40-32.

BCC came out on a mission in the second half, swinging momentum to their favor by opening the 2nd half on a 19-0 run that turned an eight point shortfall to an 11 point lead in just over 4 minutes. The Broncos would keep pouring it on throughout the remainder of the game and cruised to the 15 point win.

With the win, the team moves to 15-9 and 10-9 within Region XV. The team returns to action on Thursday, February 6th as they take on Nassau CC in the Alumni Gymnasium in what will be the Broncos' final home contest of the season. Tipoff is at 7pm
