Pete Cepeda

Pete Cepeda will be entering his fifth season at Bronx Community College as the Head Coach for the Lady Broncos. He has been an integral part of building a competitive program which is in just its 6th year at BCC.

Prior to his time at Bronx Community College, Cepeda was an Assistant Coach at Baruch College for six seasons from 2004-2010. During his time on the sidelines, the Bearcats won four CUNYAC Tournament Championships (2006, 2008, 2009, and 2010) and earned automatic berths each time to the NCAA Tournament.

From 1989-2002 Cepeda developed and coached a women’s basketball program called the Bronx Belles at the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club. He has also volunteered at the Carmine Recreation Center, the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, and at Baseline, an A.A.U basketball program for young ladies.

Pete played High School and College baseball and basketball and later went on to play professional basketball in the Dominican Republic (1979-1981). In 2002 Pete was nominated as one of the Most Caring Coaches in the U.S. by U.S.A. Today and was recognized as an Honorable Mention for the sport of basketball.

Coach Cepeda currently works for the Department of Education with Special Education students. He has been an educator for the past thirty years including 23 years as a Physical Education Director at the Madison Square Boys & Girls Club.

Pete was born and still resides in the borough of the Bronx. He attended James Monroe High School (1976-1979) went on to Sullivan Community College (1979-1981) and graduated from Mercy College (2011). Cepeda obtained his Bachelors degree in the field of Behavioral Science.

He still enjoys helping under privileged teenagers as a mentor, surrogate father, and counselor.
