Bronx Community College Director of Athletics Dionne Dodson announced Craig Williams as the new head coach of women's basketball program in August of 2024.
"Our athletic program is fortunate to attract a coach with Mr. Williams' knowledge and experience," Dodson said. "He has the unique experiences we need to build and develop our women's basketball program. Coach Williams understands the landscape of the NJCAA, Region XV, the CUNY Athletic Conference, and New York City. We are confident he will recruit tremendous student-athletes to our institution, and we're equally as excited to see him and his staff get to work."
Prior to being appointed BCC's women's basketball coach, Mr. Williams spent one year as the Assistant Head Coach at fellow CUNYAC school Hostos Community College. There, he assisted the head coach in preparing the team for practices and games, utilizing training drills to improve the team's cohesiveness and performance. With Williams on staff, the Caimans put forth a tremendous 22-4 campaign, winning a CUNYAC title and making it to the semifinals of the NJCAA Region XV Tournament. Hostos went undefeated against CUNYAC competition, posted an 11-1 record at home, and allowed less than 40 points per contest.
Craig Williams served as the Head Coach of the AAU New York Gauchos Hold during the 2022-2023 season. There, he continually evaluated each player's contribution to pinpoint strengths and areas of improvement. In the same year, Williams was the Head Coach of Monroe College-Bronx's JV squad.
During the 2021-2022 athletic year, Mr. Williams served as the Head Coach of the AAU Riverside Church girls basketball team. There, Williams played a key role in player development.
Williams also found championship success when he was the Assistant Head Coach at St. Francis Prep High School (2019-2022). There, he contributed to all aspects of the program.
Additionally, coach Williams vast experience also saw him serve as the head coach of the AAU Castle Athletics girls basketball team (2018-2020), AAU Bingo Allstars (2017-2018, girls basketball), and JV girls basketball team at Bishop Loughlin High School (2014-2018). He also served as the Head Coach of the AAU Westchester Hoopers (2014-2017), and was an Assistant Head Coach of the AAU New Heights Organization (2012-2014).
Now at Bronx Community College, Williams is looking forward to the challenge that awaits him.
"I would like to thank the BCC Director of Athletics Dionne Dodson, Associate Director of Athletics Michael Loeffler and Interim Assistant Vice President for Student Success Jessenia Paoli for the opportunity to turn this women's basketball program around," Williams said. "Once the pieces are in place, I looking forward to guiding the student-athletes, helping them not only become the best players that they could be, but also the sharpest students they could be. I'm eager to get started and make a difference."
