Roger Collier

Roger Collier is entering his second season as an assistant for the Broncos women’s basketball program after six years as an assistant at Hostos Community College.

A mainstay in New York City High School girls’ basketball for over 30 years, Collier was a major asset to a very successful Caimans program. He was instrumental recruitment efforts and was involved in all aspects of the program, including scouting, practice planning, and the implementation of offensive and defensive concepts. Collier takes pride in mentoring young athletes and helping them advance to the next level. During his tenure at Hostos, he was a part of four CUNYAC Championships, four Region XV crowns, and two National titles in 2018 and 2019.

Collier currently serves as the Head Varsity Girls Basketball Coach at Aquinas High School, a position take he has held since 2012. His tenure at Aquinas has been successful, as he led that program to both the New York City and State Championship in 2017. Additionally, he has helped many student athletes realize their dreams of playing college basketball, placing over a dozen students in college programs.

Prior to his time at Aquinas High School, Collier was the varsity assistant coach at Blessed Sacrament High School in Yonkers during the 2010 and 2011 campaigns. He enjoyed success both of those seasons, as Blessed Sacrament made deep runs in the NYC CHSAA playoffs.

From 2004 to 2009, Collier served as the varsity girls coach at Mount Saint Ursula Academy. During his first season at Mount, he guided the team to an 18-6 record and placed two of his student-athletes at division institutions. Both players received full scholarships, with Kendra Wilson attending Robert Morris College and Damis Awani playing at Northwestern University. The 2006 campaign was another banner year for Collier, and his team won the New York City Championship before falling in the state championship on a last second shot.

Coach Collier has also spent many years coaching AAU basketball as well as youth and development basketball. His many stops include coaching in the YMCA/Junior Knicks Basketball Program in both Manhattan and the Bronx, and coaching Castle Athletics’ 14U and 15U girls’ basketball teams.

A Bronx native, Collier attended Chipola Junior College in Marianna, Florida, before coming back home to suit up for Lehman College. Collier is also a decorated Army veteran who served overseas in Dordrecht, Netherland.
