Bronx Community College Hall of Famer ('14) and alumnus Adolfo De Jesus has eclipsed over 500 victories in 35 seasons as the Head Coach of the Broncos. Most recently, he led the Broncos to a CUNYAC title in 2019 after being selected the conference's Coach of the Year. Bronx also solidified a third place finish at the NJCAA Region XV Championship that year, as well.
In a two-year span (2018 and 2019), DeJesus saw a total of 12 players earn All-Region XV postseason accolades, and seven player earn CUNYAC posteason distinctions.
Overall, DeJesus has led Bronx Community College to 11 City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) championships during his tremendous tenure at the institution. Additionally, back in 1995, he led the Broncos to the NJCAA Region XV title, and a berth in the NJCAA World Series.
A Dominican Republic native, Adolfo De Jesus attended New York’s George Washington High School for four years, where he was a standout student-athlete in baseball, football and golf.
After graduating from G.W. High School, De Jesus enrolled at Bronx Community College, where he played baseball for two years. He then transferred to Lehman College, becoming a two-year baseball letter-winner on the Lightning before graduating from Lehman in 1985 with a Bachelor’s Degree in education.
Individually, DeJesus has produced one NJCAA First Team All-American, seven NJCAA Second Team All-Americans, dozens of NJCAA Region XV All-Region Team members, and several major league prospects and draftees.
Though he has many individual coaching accolades, what he is most proud of is the longevity of his coaching career at Bronx CC and impacting lives of young men. Since 2014, over 42 percent of baseball players at Bronx Community College have graduated, over 2.5 times higher than the college's average.
To help serve the community, DeJesus' baseball team annually sponsors its own hydration station at "Run the Bronx," a 5K/10K of over a thousand runners to benefit Bronx Community College's Scholarship Fund.
Professionally, De Jesus is the senior supervisor of facilities for the Department of Health, Physical Education and Wellness at Bronx Community College. Additionally, he serves the college as an Adjunct Lecturer. Off campus, he is a longtime employee of Roberto Clemente State Park (Bronx, NY), serving as a mentor and role model to hundreds of young men in his program.
