Katherine Reyes posts team-highs of 13 points, eight rebounds in Bronx's loss to Passaic

The Broncos' women's basketball team closed out calendar year 2023 with a defeat on Thursday evening, falling to the Panthers of Passaic County Community College by a score of 102-15. With the defeat, Bronx dipped to a mark of 0-11 on the 2023-2024 campaign, while the Panthers improved to a record of 7-7.

Despite the loss for the Broncos, Katherine Reyes put forth a gritty performance for the hosts, posting team-highs of 13 points and eight rebounds. In addition, Alaysha Dowe contributed four boards for Bronx.

In the victory for Passaic, standout guard Nadi Starr Cameron registered game-highs of 29 points, 13 steals, and seven assists. She also snatched seven boards, as well. Emonie Williams connected on 10 of her 15 attempts from the floor, finishing with 21 points, eight steals, and five boards, and Amariah Redden posted a double-double, scoring 16 points while tying for the game-high of 13 rebounds. Nathalie Torrees contributed 12 points and eight boards, and finally, it was Imani Bucher posting a double-double, scoring 10 points, grabbing 13 boards, and registering three assists.

The Panthers held a commanding 39-3 lead after 10 minutes of action, and took a 67-10 advantage into the locker room at halftime. Passaic continued to dominate in the second half of action, outscoring the hosts 35-5 over the final 20 minutes to account for the commanding victory.

Passaic connected on 45.8 percent of its attempts from the floor (44-96), while the Broncos earned a conversion rate of just 15 percent (6-40). The Panthers dominated the glass, snatching 65 rebounds to Bronx's 25, and Passaic forced 42 turnovers, while committing just 11.

Bronx will now have 15 days off before returning to action on Saturday, January 6, as the Broncos will travel to Queensborough to battle the Tigers in a CUNYAC game. Start-time at Robert F. Kennedy Gymnasium is scheduled for 1:00pm.
