BRONX, NY - The Bronx Community College Broncos (4-3, 4-0 CUNYAC) came home to Ohio Field Saturday afternoon to challenge the Nassau Community College Lions (4-4) in the final two games of their season series. Yesterday's double-header netted two losses for the Broncos (0-15, 1-19), with both games ending in five innings.
For the second consecutive game this season, the Broncos were unable to reach double-digit runs. The Lions were able to take control in the first inning with a Vincent Rutligliano double that drove Nick Sampogna and Michael Perhuaz to home plate to put the game at 8-0. Bronx was able to make some timely base moves in the fifth inning, as all bases were loaded by
Yolbi De La Cruz (0-3), Alex Breton (0-2) and
Christopher Messon (0-2), but ultimately a Calderon out ended the first matchup. The Broncos attempted to bounce back from their first game, but ultimately fell short to the strong-armed Lions.
Steven Correa (1-2) posted Bronx's lone run of the second contest.
BCC travels for a brief road-trip Tuesday (Mar. 29) to Bergen Community College (7-10) for a non-conference game in Paramus, NJ at 3:30 p.m.
