Box Score 12/4/14 – Bronx, NY

The BCC Women's Basketball team was dealt their first loss of the season, falling to the LaGuardia CC 79-66.  The teams' 4-game winning streak was snapped when the Red Hawks were able to put some distance between them and the Lady Broncos midway through the first half.

The teams looked evenly matched at the start as both squads exchanged buckets.  With 7 minutes into the game the score was knotted at 12.  Just a few minutes later though, 3 straight scoring chances converted by LCC gave them a 5 point lead, 20-15.  Bronx answered back with a small run though and on a fast break layup by Hivelize Escobar, the score was again tied at 20.  An 11-0 run by the Red Hawks gave them a comfortable margin and at halftime, the score was 40-31.

In the second half, Bronx was able to stay in striking distance but then 9 straight points by LaGuardia ran the lead to 18.  BCC trailed by as many as 20 but they were able to fight back and cut the lead to 10.  But that was as close as the Lady Broncos would get the rest of the way.  With 4 minutes to go, BCC had a chance to cut the score to single digits, but a turnover and 3 point goal at the other end made it 73-60. 

Hivelize Escobar led the team with 26 points and 4 rebounds.  Trisha Toussaint chipped in with 17 points and 5 boards of her own, while Chloe Walton pulled down an astonishing 22 rebounds to go with 7 points. 

With the loss, the team falls to 4-1 on the season.  They return to action on Saturday, December 6^th as they travel to Hostos CC to take on the Caimans at 1pm.
