Box Score 12/12/14 – Loch Sheldrake, NY
The Bronx CC Lady Broncos historically have had a difficult time vs the defending Region XV Champions, Sullivan CC. On Thursday, the team made a run to change their fortune vs the #8 Nationally Ranked team in America, but fell just short in the end by the score of 59-52.
BCC ran out to an early lead in the first half, one they would see grow as the period progressed. The Lady Broncos led by as many as 10 points with continued scoring and tough defense. At halftime, Bronx led the Lady Generals, 32-23.
But Sullivan quickly cut into that lead to start the second. The team made some adjustments and flexed their muscle by smothering BCC with a pressing defense for the entire half. With about 14 minutes left to play, Sullivan seized the lead, though Bronx was able to keep it close to give the team a chance at the end.
With less than a minute and a half to go, Hivelize Escobar shook her defender to get an open 3 point look at the top of the key. Though the shot looked on the mark, it banged off front rim, and Sullivan pulled down a rebound of what would have been the goal to cut the Lady General lead to just 2 points. Bronx wasn't able to get any closer as time expired.
With the loss, the Lady Broncos fall to 4-3 and they return home on Saturday, December 13th as they take on the Panthers of Borough of Manhattan CC for a 1pm tip-off.
